Just asked a question in class and some people got annoyed because they apparently already knew what I was asking about. If you already know everything why are you in class? Respect your fellow classmates. Here's an angry Miata for your time.

So your annoyed that they got annoyed with you? So much annoying.

Your point is spot on about why are they even there if they already know EVERYTHING!

Reminds me of the time I took a beginner tennis class with a guy who got 2nd in his high school state meet. Why would you do that?

He had low self esteem and felt better about himself being 'top dog'?

I'm reminded of an old joke; It's in the form of a 'For sale' notice

FOR SALE: Complete set of Encyclopaedia Britannia, no longer needed as wife knows everything.

"The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked." Not always true, but often.

There are exceptions to the rule though. Like when one of my classmates asked what "underground" meant.

I once had a professor that would genuinely get POed when anyone asked a question.

Weird. Was it one of those giant lecture hall classes with hundreds of people? Or did they just have a huge thing for office hours?

Holy shit, this happened in a college course? That's rediculous!

I don't get annoyed by people in class asking questions. However, there was one time where this guy in one of my accounting classes asked like 50 questions in one lecture. That was pretty annoying, especially since he kept asking about things before the teacher had a chance to explain them.

If people ask questions it's totally fine, not really a dumb question you can ask. Just let the prof explain, which I'm sure you did. Everyone can be confused every once in a while. Tell your classmates to find a different class then.

why are they in the class? It's a required class.

I usually only get annoyed when a fellow student asks something that was flat out covered in the reading or by common sense. I'm going to assume your question didn't fit into either of those categories.

He was just an asshole. Only about a class of 60. I may or may not of lost my shit when he nearly made a girl cry.

I've found international students to be the most disrespectful group of students I've ever encountered (I'm studying in Paris for a year). Discourteous toward professors and no care for what sorts of distractions they might be causing for other students in the class. Just awful.

There were 45 people in the class the first day. After today, down to 18.

they want an easy A to boost their GPA? I take a foreign language class when I need to do that.

Kinja'd!!!1

They're classes specifically for foreign exchange students, and from what I've gathered almost none of them fulfill requirements for people and most don't transfer credits. Might just be a difference in the academics cultures between the US and students from some of the other countries. Not really a big deal, just something that slightly annoyed me when I was in class today. The good thing is that more than half the class has already dropped the course, ha.

Yeah, they're courses for international students, and I think most of the foreign students just come here to go to the clubs and party. Turns out some basic calculus really scares people, although I don't know what they expected for an advanced economics course.
